What size filter does my hot tub need?
Always start by measuring the width (diameter) of your old cartridge across the outside edges of the end cap at its widest point. Note: Measurements may vary by about 1/8″ due to expansion, shrinkage, etc. For example, if you measure as a 5″ diameter, and can’t find a match, it may actually be a 4-15/16″ filter, etc.
Are hot tub filters a standard size?
There are only two types of male thread commonly fitted to hot tub filters: Fine threaded filters are usually found in 3 nominal sizes: either 1 1/2″, 2″ or 3 1/2″ MPT. The alternative is a very coarse, widely spaced, flat-edge thread and again these are usually found in 2 nominal sizes: 1 1/2″ or 2″ SAE.
