Are Kirkey seats road legal?
We produce seats for just about any racing application imaginable. KIRKEY RACING seats are not designed for street use in a road car where fixed mounting is not available.
Are Kirkey seats FIA approved?
The Kirkey set is not FIA approved and requires the brace as far as I know. It may in fact pass the test but I think most Kirky seats end up in round a round cars and not FIA sanctioned events, thus my assumption is Kiry doesn’t want to go through the time and expense of FIA certification.
Do Kirkey seats expire?
Seats expire, and you’re not supposed to bolt through fiberglass.
What size kirkey do I need?
Measure the width of the hips through the center line of the body side to side. Do not measure across the lap of the driver as this will give a larger than required measurement. Take this measurement as the size of the seat you need. If it is 15” then you would order a 15” seat.
Can you use a regular seat belt with a racing seat?
The seats are fine, most of the time just by removing the lap belt bolt on the stock belts and feeding it through the new seat you can safely use race seats and stock belts when not on the track and use the harnesses when you need them.

Do racing seats expire?
Seat life: The usable life of an FIA homologated seat will be 5 years from the date of manufacture indicated on the seat label. An extension of up to 2 further years may be authorised where the seat has been returned to the manufacturer for re-validation.
How do I choose a racing seat?
You want to pick a seat the fits the car and fits the driver. If you have a small car, measure the width at the shoulders and H-point, as well as the height inside the car, and compare that to the seat dimensions to make sure it fits.
How wide are bucket seats?
Using a straight edge, measure the width of the driver’s hips through the centerline of the body side to side, not across the driver’s lap. This measurement is the seat size. If it’s 15”, get a 15” seat. If it is 15 ¾”, go to a 16” seat.
