How do you charge a Leapster 2?
To properly recharge the battery pack:
- Insert the battery pack into the Leapster Explorer handheld and tigthten the screw to secure the battery pack to the handheld.
- With the Leapster Explorer powered off, place the handheld onto the recharging base.
Is Leapster 2 discontinued?
The Leapster2 is NOT discontinued, and Leapfrog informs it will continue to support it and to develop games for it. We have the L-Max, Leapster2, and now also the Explorer.

Yes, all Leapster Explorer game cartridges work with the LeadPad technology.
Can you charge LeapPad 2 with USB?
If the charging indicator light does not glow when the LeapPad is plugged into the wall adapter, find the USB cable that came with the LeapPad and use the USB cable to connect the LeapPad to a powered USB port on your computer while the computer is turned on.
Do they still sell Leapsters?
Both the Leapster and Leapster L-MAX were retired in 2014 and the Leapster2 was retired in 2019.
