Can you stay on Koh Kong Island?
If you want to stay on Koh Kong Island and camping isn’t your thing, there’s one resort Koh Kong White Sands Resort, which is on a different beach to where we went. I believe guests boat transportation is arranged upon booking the hotel.
Is Koh Kong Safe?
Generally, Koh Kong is a very safe and quiet town, with no immediate threats to travellers. If you fall ill, there are two pharmacies in town, but the hospital here should be avoided at all costs. Those requiring medical attention should travel to Trat, which is 90km away in Thailand, as it has an excellent hospital.

What is Kep Cambodia?
Kep Beach – Kep. Kep was Cambodia’s top seaside destination until eclipsed in the 1960s by Sihanoukville (and, soon after, decades of civil war). The town is full of ruined shells of old villas, destroyed in the Khmer Rouge days and during the subsequent Civil War and stripped down by the leaving Vietnamese army.

Under the name Speed Ferry Cambodia, Koh Rong Dive Center runs speedboats several times a day from the Serendipity Pier in Sihanoukville. The catamaran speedboats seat 125 and an open return ticket costs $22. The trip usually takes around 45 minutes, and the larger boat offers a smoother ride than the other companies.
